Our SOAP
Cove Road Soapworks has formulated a range of soaps, balms and other skincare products which worship our natural environment. We use only the best local and ethically sourced ingredients - treading lightly on the planet.
We’re of the opinion that starting with the best quality ingredients produces a much better soap than focusing on marketing and fancy plastic heavy packaging. Rocket science you say?
We don’t use fancy chemicals, we don’t use animal fats, and we don’t use unsustainable products like palm oil. What we do use is the best quality plant based ingredients we can get our hands on. We grow a lot of the ingredients ourselves where we can, and where we can’t we source locally as a first option.
Apart from our soaps with honey and bee’s wax, all our soaps would put a huge smile on the face of an average vegan.
Our bars are generously sized (in most cases 140 grams or more) and very dense, so they don’t wear away after a week like a mass produced extruded bar will.
Our Roots
You’ll quickly discover that not all bar soaps are the same, and a Cove Road soap is as far away from those mass produced commercial soaps as you can get.
The original inspiration to make a change came when our young son would repeatedly pump away the majority of a plastic 1L liquid soap bottle in a single shower while playing with his toys on the shower floor. That’s when the incredible waste of natural resources on plastic packaging really hit home. There had to be a more environmentally friendly way. It turns out that way has been around for hundreds of years. Bar soap!
Inspired by our idyllic New Zealand seaside setting at Lang's Beach, here at Cove Road we create luxurious products intended not just to clean, moisturise and pamper you, but as a getaway from modern life, lifting the spirits and awakening the mind as much as it does cleanse the body.
Everything we make is handmade in small batches, hand poured, and hand cut. Our soaps contain none of that yucky chemical stuff like phalates, parabens, GMOs or petroleum products and are humanly tested on me and willing friends to help refine the product before we put it into production. None of that plastic packaging and generous sized bars so the product lasts longer each time to reduce shipping; it’s the most sustainable choice for the planet.
All of our soaps can be used for body, face or hands, but because skin types vary, so do our formulas to best suit your particular skin types, so do read the descriptions on each soap as to what properties it has. Our soap helps you to streamline your family’s bathing and skincare routine.
